UDC Women’s Volleyball Falls to ECC Rival CW Post in Three Sets
Washington, DC – The UDC Women's Volleyball Team dropped to 0-3 in the East Coast Conference (ECC) today with the 3-0 loss to CW Post. The Firebirds fall to 4-9 overall while the Pioneers advance to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
In the first set CW post jumped ahead early and held off the Firebirds to win 25-16. The second set was well contested by UDC, in large part due to 4 powerful kills by junior right side/ outside hitter Kelsey Boyd (Regina, SK, Canada – Sheldon HS) and junior outside hitter/ middle back Vanessa Garley (Rio Rancho, NM – Rio Rancho HS) who had 3 kills. The Pioneers outlasted the Firebirds in the end, however, winning the second set 25-20. The Pioneers proved to be too much for UDC, scoring 9 of the next 11 points, winning the third set 25-17 and closing out the match.
The Firebirds were paced on the day by Kelsey Boyd with 7 kills and senior setter/ right side Grace DeMichelis (Aurora, CO – Overland HS) with 18 assists and 9 digs.
