UDC Sweeps Trinity 3-0

Washington, DC: October 19, 2009—The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Women’s Volleyball Team swept the Trinity University Tigers ,3-0, tonight at the UDC Sports Complex.  The Firebirds won the match in three straight sets, 25-11, 25-2, and 25-3, as Senior Night was celebrated honoring  two seniors, Shakira Watford (Willingboro, NJ) and Chantel Henry (Willingboro, NJ).

Junior middle hitter Karen Trevino (Anthony, NM) led the Firebirds to the win with 14 kills, 10 service aces , 4 assists and 5 digs, followed by junior Ashley Jefferson with 9 kills, 2 assists and 1 dig.  Freshman setter Ellen Bethea led the Tiger scoring with 2 kills.

UDC  (3-8) returns to the court on Saturday, October 24, against the Catholic University Cardinals in northeast Washington.
