Firebirds Soar Past the Lions to a 7-0 Victory; Remains Undefeated on the Season

WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's women's tennis team faced off against ECC foe, Molloy College to grab their first victory at home on the new tennis courts. The Firebirds defeated the Lions 7-0, to improve 4-0, 3-0 in the conference.

In the team's first game on campus since 2018, UDC broke in the new courts dominating in both singles and doubles play for a clean sweep.

The Firebirds took wins at No.1,2 and 3 winning the doubles point to give them the advantage going into singles play. Laura Marie snatched up the first singles point, defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5. Joanna Skrzypczynska was up next with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4.  Sofia Bellucco brought home the win for the Firebirds with a victory at No. 3.

Simoné Pärn, Mariona Franco, and Valentina Brienza finished the match off with wins at No. 1,2, and 6 to bring the final score to 7-0.

UDC will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to Philadelphia with the men's team to face off against USciences in a doubleheader. The first match is slated to go off at 1:00 pm.
