Izabella Secures Second ECC Rookie of the Week Title
Babylon, NY- Freshman Izabella Bilecova was named the ECC Rookie of the week for her performances against St Thomas Aquinas and Wilmington this past week.
The Slovakia native defeated Katarina Lopez 7-5, 6-2 at no. 5 ingles to help the Firebirds to 5-2 win over St Thomas Aquinas. Bilecova would later move up to No . 4 in singles play to face off against Wilmington's Mallory Nolte resulting in a sweep 6-0, 6-0. She also teamed up with Joanna Skrzypczynska for a 6-0 shutout victory at No. 2 doubles.
Bilecova is now 5-0 in singles play and 4-1 in doubles play.
Teammate Simoné Pärn made honor roll for her performances as well. Parn led the Firebirds at No 1 in both singles and doubles defeating last week's Rookie of the week Eliza Mulder 7-6(6), 6-2, from STAC. She partnered up with Teammate Marija Milic to win their doubles match 7-5. Parn went on to in her singles match at Wilmington (6-3, 6-0) and teamed up with Sofia Bellucco to win their doubles match 7-5.
