ETTRICK, VA.- the University of the District of Columbia's women's lacrosse team fell to Virginia State University 17-7, Saturday afternoon. The Firebirds slipped to 0-1 on the season while the Trojans improved to 1-0.
Michelle Mitchell netted a hat trick, and Jada Williams and Shanise Taylor each posted four points off two goals and two assists. Natalia Perkins also made a game-high 20 saves.
VSU had the advantage in draw controls (15-12) and outshot the Firebirds 43-23. UDC went 16-31 in cleaers and the Trojans went 20-25.
UDC (1-0) will head to Davis and Elkins next Friday.
