SPARKHILL, N.Y.- The University of the District of Columbia's women's lacrosse team fell to St Thomas Aquinas College 25-13, Thursday afternoon at the Spartan field. Anna Schamens led the Firebirds with four goals and four assists to total a team-high eight points.
Two defenders made their way on the stat sheet in today's game, Michelle Mitchell and Sabrina Roberts. Mitchell scored a season-high two goals and assisted Roberts in her first goal of the season. Sarai Reyes-Roman netted a hat trick with three goals and reigning ECC Rookie of the week Lauryn Lopez added two goals.
It was a pretty even first quarter with both teams going back and forth before STAC pulled away with a two-point lead. The Spartans went on a 10-1 run in the second, leading 16-5 going into the break.
UDC's best quarter came in the third, outscoring the home team 6-2 to bring the deficit down to seven, but the Spartans managed to pull away in the fourth scoring seven goals en route to victory.
UDC (0-10, 0-4 ECC) is back in action on Saturday as they travel to Holy Family University. Tip-off is set for 12:00 pm.
