Lauryn Lopez Earns ECC Rookie of the Week; Schamens and Lofton Jr Make Weekly Honor Roll

WEST BABYLON, N.Y.- Lauryn Lopez was named the ECC Rookie of the Week for her performance last week. Anna Schamens and Carnell Lofton Jr were also named to the weekly honor roll.

Lopez stuffed the stat sheet with eight points on five goals and three assists, as well as 18 draw controls and six ground balls in the Firebirds' lone game against Davis and Elkins.

Schamens recorded seven points on four goals and three assists in the Firebirds' lone game against Davis and Elkins. She also picked up a game and season-high 12 ground balls, four groundballs, and had two caused turnovers.

Lofton, Jr. recorded 24 ground balls and added two goals and two assists on the week. In the Firebirds' win over Caldwell, he won 15-oof-23 faceoffs and added two goals and two assists. In the game against Molloy, he won 21-of-23 faceoffs and grabbed 17 ground balls.

Both teams are back in action on the road this Saturday as the women's team, will open conference play against Mercy College and the men's team will be facing off against STAC. Both games are set to tip-off at noon and will be live-streamed on the ECC network.
