Three UDC Women’s Lacrosse Student-Athletes Earn IWLCA Academic Honor Roll Distinction

IWLCA Release

GRAND LAKE, CO – Three University of the District of Columbia Women's Lacrosse student-athletes were honored with inclusion in the 2015 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association/Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll.

Senior Lana Oudat (Architecture - Damascus, Syria/Little Village School) and juniors Cherakye Lopez (English – Lynchburg, VA/Timberlake Christian School) and Muriel Hamilton (Psychology – Washington, DC/H.D. Woodson HS) were each nominated by their school and achieved at least junior status academically while attaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better.

Oudat, Lopez and Hamilton were three of 178 student-athletes from 48 different NCAA Division II institutions to earn this distinction. The IWLCA honored a record number 838 student-athletes from 256 different institutions across NCAA Divisions I, II and III as well as the NAIA for its 2015 Academic Honor Roll.

This honor is the latest in a list of academic achievements for the women's lacrosse team in the 2015 academic year.  Last week, the team was named a 2015 IWLCA Division II Academic Honor Squad, and it had five Division II Athletic Directors Association All-Academic recipients and 10 East Coast Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll awardees.

UDC, in just the second year of the program's existence, has already had five different student-athletes earn IWLCA Academic Honor Roll distinction, with Oudat earning the honor two consecutive years.
