UDC Women’s Lacrosse Defeated by ECC Foe Mercy

WASHINGTON, DC – Aaliyah Carter and Amber Walls each scored a goal for the Firebirds, but the University of the District of Columbia women's lacrosse team was defeated by Mercy, 15-2 Friday night in East Coast Conference play at Georgetown Multi-Sport Field.

The Mavericks (2-1, 1-1 ECC) raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first seven minutes of play, but Carter (Business Administration – Woodbridge, VA/Gar-Field Senior HS) scored her first career goal on a free-position shot to bring the Firebirds within two, 3-1. After Mercy tacked on two more goals, UDC senior Amber Walls scored her 2nd goal of the season – also on a free-position - to make the score, 5-2.

With Mercy already leading by three, Nicole Kline scored three of her four goals during a 7-0 Mercy run to give the Mavericks a commanding, 12-2 lead with 8:25 still remaining in the first half. Mercy sat on that lead through the rest of the half.

The Mavericks would add three more goals in the second half, as they won comfortably, 15-2. Next up, UDC will host Young Harris on Wednesday, March 11th at 3 p.m.
