Firebirds Second Half Rally Falls Short in Loss Against Crimson Hawks

INDIANA, PA- The University of the District of Columbia's women's basketball team fell to Indiana University 63-53, Sunday afternoon at the Kovalchick Complex. The Firebirds fell to a 3-2 record on the season and the Crimson Hawks improved to 4-0.
 
Ronnasia Blatch-Huggins headlined the Firebirds scoresheet with 23 points, 14 rebounds, and four steals. Destiny Ryles also scored in the double figures adding 13 points.
 
The Crimson Hawks took the early lead, outscoring the Firebirds 14-9 in the first quarter. That lead would increase to 15 points with IUP holding UDC to just five points in the second quarter.
 
The last two quarters saw UDC fighting to get back. With 4:20 left in the game, the Firebirds were able to get the deficit down to just nine points. Both teams went on to go back and forth but IUP would eventually secure their win.
 
UDC (3-2) will take the week off before heading away to face off against Bloomfield College on Monday, November 29th. The tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
