Three Firebirds Men's Cross Country Runners to Compete Sunday at NCAA East Regional

NASHUA, N.H.-  This Sunday at Mine Falls Park will be the 2012 NCAA East Region Championship hosted by UMass Lowell. This meet will feature representatives from thirty-two universities including three runners from The University of the District of Columbia.

The three Firebird runners competing are senior Zephaniah Koech (Accounting- Nandi Hills, Kenya/ Terige HS), freshman Baldin Needham (Sociology - Browns Town, Jamaica/St. Jago HS), and senior Hillary Mugun (Accounting- Nandi Hills, Kenya/Meteitei HS).

According to head coach Alton McKenzie, the Firebirds ought to be well-represented on Sunday and will likely be led by Mugun, who is coming off his first East Coast Conference title on October 21st  with an 8K time of 26:01.  Koech was close behind and placed 19th in his final ECC meet with Baldin Needham placing 34th  as a freshman and also receiving an at-large bid for the Regional Championship race.

Sunday's race will be run over 10,000 meters and will begin at noon. View a map of the course here.
