
UDC Men's Tennis Opens the Fall Season in Winning Fashion
WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team defeated Jefferson University 4-3, to secure their first victory of the season. This marks their first win over Jefferson since the 2019-20 season.
The duo of Oskar Karos and Louka Queguiner won their match at the No.2 doubles position, but UDC eventually lost the doubles point, giving Jefferson the 1-0 lead going into singles play.
Louis Mangeon quickly evened out the score defeating his opponent 6-2, 6-1 at the No.1 position.
Both teams went on to trade points going back and forth, with the Rams winning at 2 and 4 and the Firebirds winning at 3 and 5. In his UDC debut, Louka Queguiner forced a three set match up, falling in the first set 2-6, but battling back to a 6-2, 6-3 victory. His win brought the score to 3-3 with the deciding point coming down to the No.6 position.
Mauricio Corty pulled off a two set 6-4, 6-2 victory to clinch the match and give the Firebirds the 4-3 win over Jefferson.
Up next UDC (1-0) will head to N.Y. next Friday to compete in the ITA Tournament.
