Gamez, Cecil and Martinez Earn All-Conference Post Season Honors
WEST BABYLON, N.Y. The University of the District of Columbia's men's soccer student-athletes Axel Gamez, Thomas Cecil and Santiago Gordillo Martinez received All-Conference recognition, as was announced by the conference office this afternoon.
Gamez, a freshmen midfielder from MD, received Second Team All-Conference honors registering 12 points on four goals and four assists on the season. He started 11 out of the Firebirds 15 games and received Rookie of the week honors earlier in the season.
Martinez, a sophomore forward from Peru, received Third Team All-Conference honors registering 12 points on a team leading five goals and two assists. He played in 14 games and started in seven.
Cecil, a senior midfielder from England, also received Third Team All-Conference honors. He started in 13 of the 14 games he played in and registered two goals on the season, one of which was a game-tying goal against Staten Island on senior day.
The Firebirds ended the season with a 7-7-2 overall record and a 2-5-1 conference record.
