Vitor Gomes and Javier Abadia Torres named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II All-east Region Teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The University of the District of Columbia's Vitor Gomes and Javier Abadia Torres were named to the United Soccer Coaches 2021 NCAA Division II First and Third All-East Region teams, as was announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.

Gomes was also named to the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association's First All-East Region team, the East Coast Conference First-Team, and selected as the ECC Offensive Player of the year. He was ranked sixth in the country for game-winning goals, second in the ECC for goals (12), and third in points (27).

Torres was a Second-Team All-Conference pick in the ECC and had eight shutout games on the season. He made 55 saves and started in 15 of the 17 games played. Torres was also the only Goalkeeper in the ECC to make the All-East region list and one of three GK's in the East Region to receive this honor.

Gomes and Torres helped UDC to a second-place regular-season finish in the ECC- the highest in program history. They also helped the Firebirds go a record-breaking 11 games unbeaten to secure a spot in the ECC Playoffs for the first time since 2017.
