UDC Defeats Bloomfield, 3-2, in Double Overtime

Washington, DC:  October 6, 2007—Junior Myron Douglas kicked the tie-breaking goal in the 3rd minute of double overtime on a cross assist from Kendel Penny to give the University of the District of Columbia the victory over Bloomfield College this afternoon in Washington, DC. This was the first win of the season for the Firebirds.

Douglas paced the Firebirds to the win with two goals, with the first coming in the 11th minute of the first period when he booted the ball into the net. Freshman Samer Shehadeh scored UDC's second goal in the 84th minute, booting it across the goal line unassisted.

Bloomfield drew first blood when freshman Adrian Lagos scored in the 6th minute. Their second goal came in the 70th minute when Jose Ramos kicked the ball into the back of the net.

UDC, now 1-5-1 for the season, will see their next action on Tuesday, October 9, in a re-match with Chestnutt Hill College, at the SoccerPlex in Germantown, Maryland.
