LAKEWOOD, NJ - the University of the District of Columbia's men's lacrosse team opened their season at Georgian Court University, on Tuesday afternoon. The Firebirds fell to the Lions 6-25 falling to 0-1 on the season.
Julian Schemm posted four points on three goals and an assist. Najee Wilson made 21 saves and Dylan Donaldson, Jordan Schemm and Joshua Copeland each added a goal.
It was a close game in the first quarter as Schemm scored two goals, making it a 3-2 score in favor of GCU heading into the second quarter. The Lions went on to score ten unanswered goals in the second opening the lead to 13-2 at the half.
UDC went on to score two more goals in the third and fourth quarters.
Georgian Court out shot the Firebirds 69-14 and won 29-35 face offs. The home team also had the advantage in ground balls (71-26) and clears (18-9).
Up next, UDC (0-1) will head to Virginia State University on Saturday.
