CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Two University of the District of Columbia men's lacrosse student-athletes – LaRon Hinton and Alan Singleton – each earned East Coast Conference weekly honors for their respective performances in the week ending Sunday, March 5th. Hinton was named Offensive Player of the Week and Singleton was picked Rookie of the Week.

Hinton, a junior midfielder from Woodbridge, VA, currently leads NCAA Division II in goals per-game (5.25) and points per-game (6.75). He paced the Firebirds to two victories last week – an 18-11 road win at regional foe Georgian Court University and a 17-9 ECC season opening win at home vs. St. Thomas Aquinas College. In those two games, he registered 14 points on 11 goals and three assists.

Singleton, the recipient of the ECC Rookie of the Week two consecutive weeks, registered 10 points on eight goals and two assists in the Firebirds' two wins last week.  He tied the school record with six goals in UDC's win at Georgian Court, and then he registered two goals and two assists in the Firebirds' win vs. STAC. Singleton currently ranks No. 12 in the nation for goals per-game average at 3.25 and No. 13 in points per-game with 4.75.

The Firebirds (3-1), who have won a program-best three straight games, will look to carry that momentum to an upset victory over the No. 5 ranked team in NCAA Division II, New York Institute of Technology. They visit ECC foe NYIT on Saturday, March 11th at 3 p.m.
