Vitor Gomes Earns 2021 Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-East Region Honors
FLUSHING, N.Y. -The University of the District of Columbia's Vitor Gomes was named to the 2021 Division II Conference Commissioner Association (D2CCA) First All-East Region team, as announced Tuesday morning by the organization.
Gomes was named the ECC Offensive Player of the year this past 2021 season and was also a First-Team selection, playing and starting in all 16 games of the regular season. He registered 27 points (third in the conference) on 12 goals (second in the conference) and three assists. He also led the league with five game-winning goals, four of which were in conference play, and was ranked sixth in all of Division II.
Gomes was named Offensive Player of the week for the week of September 20th and went on to make multiple weekly honor rolls. Gomes became the first player since All-American Gabriel Torres (2017), to earn a post-season award for the Firebirds.
Gomes led the Firebirds to a second-place regular-season finish in the ECC, the highest in program history. He also helped the Firebirds go 11 games straight unbeaten (a new record for the Firebirds) and helped secure a bid into the ECC playoffs, for the second time in program history.
