Jerily Benjamin Earns East Coast Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – University of the District of Columbia senior Jerily Benjamin was named East Coast Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Hampton Relays this past Saturday.

Benjamin (Health Education – Queens, NY/Phillip Randolph HS) finished 9th overall in a very competitive field of 400M runners with a season-best time of 57.95s. She was 3rd in Heat 2 and was the 2nd fastest Division II athlete in the event. She also led off the 4x400M relay team that finished 3rd overall among nine teams with a season-best time of 3:57.58.

Benjamin and the Firebirds will look to repeat as the East Coast Conference Outdoor Track & Field champions this week when they compete in Rochester, NY at the ECC Championship meet on Saturday, April 18th.
