Firebirds Compete at UMES Cappy Anderson Cross Country Invitational

PRINCESS ANNE, MD – The University of the District of Columbia women's cross country team finished 8th of eight teams in the Cappy Anderson Invitational hosted by University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday, September 23rd.

The Firebirds were led by sophomore Niasia Harding, who ran a season-best time of 25:35.6 to finish 45th overall out of 57 total runners. Harding bettered her time from last week at the NYIT Invitational by four minutes and 20 seconds.

Senior Dabrin Snorton finished next for UDC at a time of 26:33.7, followed by senior Kenlyn Duncan who ran a season-best time of 28:28.0. Freshman Dajour Jones crossed the finish line 11 seconds later at 28:39.0, team newcomer Shaneika Bowra finished her Firebird debut in 29:04.1, freshman Aisha Dozier finished in 29:58.7, and junior Washington, DC native Shakeithia Nicholson finished in a career-best time of 29:58.9.

UDC is off next week, but it returns to action on Saturday October 7th to compete in the Delaware State Pre-Conference Run in Smyrna, DE.
