UDC Women’s Cross Country Competes in NYIT Cross Country Invitational

OLD WESTBURY, NY – The University of the District of Columbia women's cross country team finished 7^th of nine Division II and III teams at the New York Institute of Technology Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

The Firebirds were paced by senior Shayna Hodge, who returned after missing last week to run the 5K course in 26:49.99 and place 38^th out of 56. Freshman Dajour Jones was in next at 39^th place with a time of 26:53.97, and sophomore Temera Duncan was 40^th with a time of 27:02.28.

A little over two minutes later, another pack of four Firebird runners finished in 47^th-50^th place. Sophomore Shannell Hibbert led that 2^nd pack in a time of 29:25.03, then sophomore Niasia Harding at 29:55.65, then junior Shakeithia Nicholson at 30:33.41, and then Aisha Dozier at 30:33.97.

Next week, UDC will compete at the Cappy Anderson Invitational hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday, September 23^rd.
