Firebirds Compete at Delaware State Hornet Cross Country Invitational

 SMYRNA, DE – The University of the District of Columbia placed 7th of seven teams with a team total of 174 this past Saturday at the Delaware State Hornet Cross Country Invitational.

The Firebirds were led by sophomore Niasia Harding, who finished 35th overall out of 55 competitors with a time of 26:06.6. Harding bettered her time from last week by nearly 31 seconds.

Senior Dabrin Snorton and freshman Dajour Jones finished shortly thereafter, in 26:19.9 and 26:36.7, respectively, and both finished in the top-40. Snorton improved nearly 32 seconds, and Jones took off a full minute from her time last week.

Also finishing for UDC were senior Kenlyn Duncan in 28:35.2, Aisha Dozier in 29:25.0, and Shakeithia Nicholson in 30:52.9. Duncan slashed 1:02 off last week's time, and Dozier improved 13 seconds from last week's performance.

The Firebirds' average time was 27:24, over a full minute faster than 6th place Coppin State.

UDC will travel north next week to preview the East Coast Conference Championship course as they compete in the New York Institute of Technology Cross Country Invitational in Old Westbury, NY on Saturday, September 16th.
