UDC 2017 Women’s Cross Country Schedule Announced

WASHINGTON, DC – The University of the District of Columbia women's cross country team will compete in six meets this fall, concluding with the East Coast Conference Championship meet on October 21st, as head coach Joel Phillip announced the 2017 schedule Tuesday, August 22nd.

 

The Firebirds will open the season on Friday, September 1st at the Adelphi Panther Invitational in Bethpage, NY. Next, they travel to Smyrna, DE to compete in the Delaware State Hornet Invitational on Saturday, September 9th, and then the following week, UDC travels up to Old Westbury, NY for the New York Institute of Technology Invitational.

 

September 23rd, UDC will race in the Cappy Anderson Invitational hosted by University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, MD, and then following a two-week break, will compete in the Delaware State Pre-Conference Run, again in Smyrna, DE.

 

The Firebirds will then have two weeks to rest and prepare for the East Coast Conference Championship meet hosted by NYIT in Old Westbury, NY on October 21st.

 

Roberts Wesleyan College, the reigning men's and women's cross country as well as men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field ECC champions, will host the ECC Championship meet on Saturday, October 22nd.

 

Last year, UDC finished 9th of nine teams at the ECC Championship meet. The Firebirds were picked to finish 9th again in this year's ECC Preseason poll.
