Versatile Bronx, NY Track Star Signs With University of the District of Columbia

WASHINGTON, DC – Simone Grant, a versatile athlete out of Christopher Columbus HS, has signed a National Letter of Intent to run cross country and indoor and outdoor track at the University of the District of Columbia.

"Simone's versatility on the track and on the runway makes her an exciting addition to our Firebirds team," head coach Alton McKenzie said. "I'm looking forward to having her fulfill the promise she's shown in the 100M on up to the 400M, and also in the Long Jump and Triple Jump."

A Bronx, NY native, Grant earned her school's most valuable player awards for Outdoor Track in 2011 and Indoor Track in 2012. She was also crowned the 2012 Triple Jump Outdoor City Champion.

The Firebirds featured seven athletes on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-East Region Team this past spring, including the top two runners in the 400M event.

Grant intends to study Health Education at University of DC and aspires to be a Personal Trainer.
