Promising Sprinter Christina Baker Signs With University of the District of Columbia

WASHINGTON, DC – Christina Baker, a Kingston, Jamaica native out of Christopher Columbus HS (Bronx, NY), has signed a National Letter of Intent to run cross country and indoor and outdoor track at the University of the District of Columbia.

"Christina has shown a lot of promise across all sprint events, so I'm looking forward to having her show that versatility at the collegiate level here," head coach Alton McKenzie said.

Baker competed in the 100M, 200M and 400M events in high school and McKenzie anticipates she will run those same events for the Firebirds in the winter and spring season in addition to running cross country in the fall.

The Firebirds featured seven athletes on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-East Region Team this past spring, including the top two runners in the 400M event.

An aspiring crime scene investigator, Baker plans on studying Forensic Pyschology at University of D.C.
