UDC Women's Track & Field Boasts Multiple PR's at Morgan State Legacy Meet

BALTIMORE, MD- the University of the District of Columbia's women's track and field team put on a show with multiple personal and season bests at the Morgan State Legacy Meet. 

Day 1

Emmanuela Katou Kouami broke her own UDC record in the Hammer throw with a mark of 44.88m to take 7th out of a field of 16.

Ryana Goldson placed third in the javelin with a personal best throw of 32.62m.

Day 2

The Firebirds kicked off day 2 of the meet with multiple personal and season best records in the 400m hurdles. Clocking in first for UDC, was Rainn Sheppard  with a PR of 1:08.81. Samantha Morrison was next with a PR of 1:10.02 and Chacoia Wilkes hit a season best 1:11.53.

In her first 100m of the season Janel Baxter clocked in at 12.50s to place 23rd/48.

Tukey Francis clocked in at a blazing 24.71s in the 200m which was a personal best and the 75th fastest time ran in D2 this season. She also placed 12th/53 runners. Ayesha Jarrett also clocked in at 25.33s in her debut 200m of the season. 

Kouami  broke her own UDC recod again in the discus throw with a mark of 42.42m to place 5th/24.

Zoe Shaw leaped to a PR of 11.56m in the triple jump and Serena Prince hit a PR of 11.47m.

UDC closed out the meet with a season best 3:55.41 in the 4x400m relay to place 2nd/7. The quartet of Francis, Jarrett, Morrison and Sheppard also ran the 53rd fastest time in D2 this season. 

Up next, UDC will head to the Penn Relays next thursday to compete.
