Firebirds Soar at NSU Invitational

NORFOLK, VA- The University of the District of Columbia's women's track and field team had a strong showing at the Norfolk State University Invitational.

Emmanuela Katou Kouami broke her own UDC record in the Hammer Throw that she set just two weeks ago. She placed fifth overall with a throw of 44.57m.

Kendra Williams placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 11.11m.

Zoe Shaw leaped to 11.16m in the triple jump and 1.52m in the high jump.

The quartet of Dayna Thompson, Kayla Cooper, Janel Baxter and Ayesha Jarrett placed fourth in the 4x100m with a season best time of 47.37s.

Thompson went on to place seventh in the 100m with a time of 12.05s and seventh in the 200m with a time of 25.20s. 

Cooper placed eighth in the 100m with a time of 12.07s and fifth in the 200m with a time of 25.05s.

Baxter ran 12.45s in the 100m and 26.16s in the 200m.

Jarrett ran her best 400m of the year, placing 6th with a time of 57.46s.

Up Next, UDC will head to Baltimore, MD, next Saturday to compete the Morgan State Legacy meet.
