Firebirds Conclude Season With Great Performances at the East Coast Conference Outdoor Championships

ROCHESTER, N.Y.- the University of the District of Columbia's women's Outdoor Track and Field team competed in the ECC Championships, Sunday at the Roberts Wesleyan Track. The Firebirds snatched up four conference Championship titles which include the 100m, 100mh, 200m, and the 400m dash. They placed fifth overall with a score of 86 points. Chacoia Wilkes brought home the first point for the Firebirds placing 6th in the 400m hurdles. The 4X100m relay which consisted of Iyanna Jackson, Ayesha Jarrett, Christine Taylor, and Shanise Rose then placed second with a time of 49.23s. Kamille Dixon, in her second time running the 3000m steeplechase placed second, shaving almost five seconds off her time. She went on to place fifth in the 1500m to total 10 points.  Jarrett ran her fastest collegiate 400m and 200m times winning the 400m with a time of 57.36s and placing fifth in the 200m with a time of 25.60s. Rose qualified for both the 100m hurdles and the 100m dash. After picking up a fourth-place finish in the 100m with a time of 12.55s she was back on the track for the 100m hurdles where she placed first with a time of 14.66s. Jackson took home the double winning the 100m and the 200m. She won the 100m dash with a time of 12.16s and then went on to win the 200m with a time of 25.10s.  Taylor placed fourth in the 100m hurdles and Kendra Williams picked up a fifth-place finish in the shot put and fourth in the discus throw. 

The Firebirds concluded the Championship with the 4x400m relay with a second-place finish, which included Wilkes, Jarrett, Jackson, and Dixon.

UDC concludes its first Outdoor season since 2019 and the first season under Head Coach Simone Grant.
