Firebirds Compete in Local Meet at Gallaudet University

WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's women's Outdoor track and field team competed at the Gallaudet Invite hosted by Gallaudet University, Saturday on their campus.

Iyanna Jackson went for the double, winning both the 100m and 200m. She ran a season-best time of 12.41s in the 100m finals and 25.78s in the 200m.

Kamille Dixon placed third in the 1500m running a personal best time of 4:59.22, shaving almost six seconds off of her time from last week. She went on to place second in the 3000m with a time of 11:13.95, which was followed by the 800m which she also placed second in with a time of 2:31.23. 

ECC Track Athlete of the week Shanise Rose won the 100m hurdles running a season-best time of 15.37s, which is the best in the ECC this season. She placed second behind Jackson in the 100m finals with a time of 12.56s and third in the 200m with a time of 26.57s. 

Christine Taylor ran a personal best time of 1:13.28 in the 400m hurdles shaving off eight seconds from her time last week. 

Next up, the Firebirds head back to Maryland on the 23rd, to compete in the Morgan State Legacy Meet.
