Firebirds Ranked No. 5 in USTFCCCA East Region Poll

NEW ORLEANS – With several individual performers ranked in the top-10 in the East Region, the University of the District of Columbia women's outdoor track & field team earned a No. 5 ranking in this week's USTFCCCA poll.

Ranked the highest in program history at No. 3 last week, UDC dropped two spots with a new team point total of 251.05.

Five individual Firebirds are ranked in the top-10 of the region in at least one event, four are ranked in two or more events, and both the 4x100M and 4x400M Relay teams are ranked No. 1 in the region. The 4x100M Relay Team of Stacy-Ann Rowe, Simone Grant, Brittany Okon and Jerily Benjamin added 24.92 points, and the 4x400M Relay Team of Marlena Wright, Jerily Benjamin, Jasmine Walker and Simone Grant added 25.02 points to the team's overall total.

Sophomore Stacy-Ann Rowe is No. 2 in the 100M Hurdles with a season-best running of 15.13s, she is No. 4 in the 100M with a season-best 12.29s, and No. 6 in the 200M at 25.94s. She has contributed 46.811 points to the team total.

Senior Simone Grant is No. 2 in the 200M with a season-best running of 25.00s, and she is 2nd in the 400M with a season-best 56.47s. She has contributed 41.83 points to the team total.

Graduate Jerily Benjamin is No. 3 in the 400M at 57.47s and No. 4 in the 200M with a season-best running of 25.44s. She has contributed 34.06 points to the team total.

Freshman Saida Burns-Moore is No. 2 in the High Jump with a season-best clearance of 1.65M, and she is No. 5 in the Triple Jump with a season-best clearance of 11.10M. She has contributed 33.89 points to the team total.

Finally, junior Jasmine Walker has contributed 9.99 points to the team with a No. 7 ranking in the 100M. She has run a season-best 12.45s.

 

The Firebirds are back in action on Saturday, April 16th when they compete at Hampton Relays.
