UDC Track & Field Have Good Showing at Morgan State Legacy
Baltimore, MD: April 16-17, 2010—The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Women's Outdoor Track & Field Team performed well at the Morgan State University Legacy Track & Field Meet over the weekend, at Hughes Stadium & Field in Baltimore, Maryland.
Top performances came from the 19th ranked 4x400 and the 4x100 meter relay teams, both of which finished 4th in their heat. The 4x400 team consisted of freshman Callister Jones (Fort Washington, MD/Oxon Hill Senior High School), sophomore All-American Latoya Allen (Washington, DC/Dunbar Senior High School), two-time All-American sophomore Kaneesha Hollis (Centreville, MD/North Caroline Senior High School) and two-time All-American junior Saleena Green (Kingston, Jamaica/St. Andrew Senior High School for Girls). The team finished their event in 4.04.69.
The 4x100 meter relay team of freshman Shemeia Barnes (Forrestville, MD/Upper Marlboro Senior High School), Green, sophomore Jasmine Rich (Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro H.S.) and two-time All-American Erica Nixon (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman Senior High School) finished in 49.09 seconds.
The top single performance for the Firebirds came from Saleena Green, who finished in 5th place in the 200 meter dash with the time of 25 seconds. UDC finished 8th overall in the Meet.
The Firebirds now move on to the renowned Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, April 22-24.
