Stacy Griffith Leads Track & Field at George Mason Spring Invitational
Fairfax, VA: April 10, 2010—UDC sophomore Stacy Griffith (Fredericksburg, VA/Riverbend H.S.) led the Firebirds Track & Field Team at the George Mason University Spring Invitational in Fairfax, Virginia by taking 2nd place in the women high jump. The Track Team was split-up on Saturday, as some went to Charlotte, North Carolina to compete in the Johnson C. Smith University Invitational.
Griffith finished second in a flight of eight, with the distance of 1.60 meters. It was the second straight meet in which Griffith gave a solid performance in the high jump with the same distance.
Also competing in the GMU Meet was two-time All-American senior Stellah Sang (Eldoret, Kenya/Eldoret Senior High School for Girls), who finished 11th , with the time of 2:32.13, in section 1 of the 800 meter run. Senior Shakira Watford (Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro H.S.) also competed in section 2 of the 800 meter run, finishing with the time of 2:41.66.
