UDC Captures Second Place Finish at Virginia State Invitational
The University of the District of Columbia Women’s Track & Field Team finished in second place at the Virginia State University Invitational Track Meet in Petersburg, Virginia on Saturday. The Firebirds finished with an overall point score of 52.
All-American sophomore Kaneesha Hollis won the 400 meter dash with the time of 1:02.07. Freshman Callister Jones (Fort Washington, MD/Oxon Hill H.S.) came in second place at 1:02.84, and junior Demia Franklin finished third at 1:03.84.
All-American junior Saleena Green finished second in the 100 meter dash with the time of 12:71, followed by teammates in the 3rd thru 7th spots, with freshman Famatta Lewis 3rd at 12.83, All-American junior Erica Nixon (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman Senior High School) 4th (13.37), Freshman Sheima Barnes (Forestville, MD/Upper Marlboro Senior High School) 5th (13.53), All-American sophomore Latoya Allen (Washington, DC/Dunbar Senior High School) 6th (13.54) and sophomore Jasmine Rich (Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro H.S.), 7th (14.06).
UDC will travel to Daytona Beach, Florida on April, 2, to compete in the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic at Emory-Riddle College.
