Jasmine Rogers Named UDC Head Coach for Men's & Women's Cross-country and Women's Track & Field Teams

Washington, DC—The University of the District of Columbia has named Jasmine Rogers as its new head coach for men’s & women’s cross-country and women’s track & field. Patricia Thomas, director of athletics at the University made the announcement stating, “Jasmine will be extremely effective progressing into coaching from her outstanding career as a scholar-athlete. I am proud to have her join the Firebird family."

Rogers feels good about her prospects at the University saying, “I am excited to be at the University of the District of Columbia and look forward to continuing the program’s success.”  She comes to the University after an illustrious career as a student-athlete at Delaware State University in Dover, from which she graduated with honors,  with a bachelor’s degree in management and a concentration in marketing. She also received a master’s degree in sports administration from Delaware State this past spring semester, and completed internships in athletic marketing and media relations and served as a volunteer coach for the Delaware State Men’s & Women’s Track Teams.

Ms. Rogers was an outstanding track & field athlete at Delaware, specializing in the high hurdles. Her 2007 accomplishments included becoming an Outdoor East Regional Qualifier in the 100 meter hurdles, becoming an ECAC Finalist in the 100 meter hurdles, and the 4x100 meter relay.  She was also named to the MEAC All-Academic Team for cross-country and indoor and outdoor track.

In 2008, Rogers set the outdoor meet record at the Swarthmore Invitational in the 100 meter hurdles. She also became an ECAC Qualifier in the outdoor 100 meter hurdles. Earlier in the year, she was an ECAC Qualifier in the 60 meter hurdles and a MEAC finalist in the 60 meter hurdles. Rogers spent two years at the Manhattan College in New York City, where she was a member of the volleyball and track & field teams. She is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
