Thompson Clocks National Qualifying Standard; Breaks Two More Records

LEXINGTON, VA.- Dayna Thompson, ran the National Qualifying standard in the 60m, clocking in at 7.65s to break her own record that was set just a day ago. She also broke the 200m record with a time of 24.97s.

Thompson now has three UDC records under her belt, the 60m, 200m and 300m. On day two of the Winter Classic, she placed fifth in the 60m with a PR of 7.56s, which was also the third fastest division 2 time of the meet and a national qualifying standard. She then went on to run 24.97s in the 200m which was also good for fifth overall and the second fastest D2 time of the meet. This time beat the record of 24.98s which was set by head coach Simone Grant back in 2016.

Kayla Cooper finished 10th out of a field of 65 in the 200m clocking in at 25.65s.

The Firebirds take a break next week but will be back in action on February 10th at the D2 Pre Nationals meet.
