Firebirds Compete in Local Meet in Dominating Fashion

LANDOVER, MD- The University of the District of Columbia's women's indoor track and field team competed at the Catholic University meet at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex, on Saturday.

Kayla Cooper won the 60m dash with a time of 7.86s in the finals, but her fastest time came from the semifinals where she clocked in at 7.84s. Cooper went on to place second in the 200m with a time of 25.91s. 

Dayna Thompson won the 400m with a time of 1:01.23 and then went on to win the 200m with a time of 25.75s. She was also a part of the 4x400m relay team that placed first.

Emmanuela Katou Kouami won the weight throw with a mark of 15.04 meters, which broke the UDC record of 14.42m that she set in her season opener. 

Tukey Francis was second in the 400m with a time of 1:01.54 and fourth in the 200m, clocking in at 26.69s. 

Janel Baxter placed third in the 60m finals with a time of 8.07s and fifth in the 200m with a time of 26.72s. 

Samantha Morrison placed fifth in the 800m with a time of 2:26.94. 

Zoe Shaw placed second in the triple jump leaping to 10.90 meters and third in the high jump. 

Next Up, UDC is headed to Virginia next Friday to compete in the Winter Classic.
