Firebirds Wrap Up the Indoor Season With Strong Performances at the ECC Championships

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- The University of the District of Columbia's women's indoor track and field team placed sixth out of nine other schools in the ECC Championships, Saturday at the Ocean Breeze Track facility. 

Shanise Rose won the 60m hurdles with a season's best time of 9.18s and went on to place second in the 60m dash with a time of 7.91s and fifth in the 200m. 

Ayesha Jarrett placed second in the 400m with a time of 59.03s and went on to lead off the 4x400m relay, which consisted of Iyanna Jackson , Fanta Sanogo, and Christine Taylor, that placed second. 

Sanogo placed fifth in the 500m with a personal best time of 1:21.83 and Taylor placed fifth in the 60m hurdles 

Kamille Dixon placed second in the 1000m with a personal best time of 3:03.86. 

"We had a great season," said Heach Coach Grant. "We only had 8 ladies competing and what was achieved was amazing. We came back with medals and surprises. Everyone put their best efforts, and I was proud to watch everyone in their competitive environment. We will continue training and look forward to the outdoor season."
