Dixon and Host of Firebirds Run Season Bests in Vince Brown Invitational
NEWPORT NEWS, VA- The University of the District of Columbia's women's indoor track and field team competed at the Vince Brown Invitational hosted by Christopher Newport University on Sunday. Kamille Dixon and a host of other Firebirds had strong showings and season bests.
Dixon placed first in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:28.29 and also placed second in the Mile with a season and personal best time of 5:31.89. Shanise Rose ran a season-best time of 7.98s to match her personal best in the 60m and place fourth in the finals. Teammate Ayesha Jarrett ran a personal best time of 8.03s in the semis and placed sixth in the finals with a time of 8.11s.
Iyanna Jackson ran a season-best time of 26.35s in the 200m to place fifth out of a field of 40 and Fanta Sanogo ran a season-best of 1:02.71 to place fifth in the 400m. UDC capped out the day by winning the 4x400m with a team of Jarrett, Sanogo, Jackson, and Christine Taylor.
Next up UDC is headed to Virginia on February 4th to compete in the two day East Coast Invitational meet.
