Firebirds Conclude Fall Semester with Strong Performances at the Seahawk Shootout

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The University of the District of Columbia's women's indoor track and field team concluded the fall semester at the Seahawk Shootout hosted by Wagner College, Friday night at the Ocean Breeze indoor facility. UDC was able to hold their own in a meet filled with big Division I teams.

Ayesha Jarrett placed fourth out of a field of 60, in the 60m with a time of 8.10s, which was the second-best Division II time of the meet. She went on to run 41.84s in the 300m which was good for 11th overall out of a field of 65 and the top D2 time of the meet. Jarrett closed out the meet anchoring the 4x400m team for the Firebirds that placed third out of a field of eight other teams.

Kamille Dixon also had an impressive showing placing third in the 1000m with a time of 3:10.89 which was the best D2 time of the meet. She also ended the meet placing third in the 4X400m alongside teammates Fanta Sanogo, Iyanna Jackson, and Jarrett.

Danejah Kyle had the fastest D2 time in the 60m hurdles placing sixth overall with a season-best time of 9.40s.

UDC will take a break over the holidays but will be back in action on January 15th to compete at the HBCU Showcase which will be held at the armory in Manhattan N.Y.
