Patriot Games Information

FAIRFAX, VA - This Saturday, January, 26th, the Firebirds Indoor Track & Field squad will compete at The Patriot Games hosted by George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

The Firebirds are looking to continue their excellent start to the season in the sprints and jumps. Head coach Alton Mckenzie pointed out that one individual and one relay team, in particular, are in the spotlight on Saturday: Junior Shauna-Kay Creary (Accounting – Kingston, Jamaica/St. Andrew HS) who is the two-time reigning East Coast Conference Field Event Athlete of the week as well as the 4x400m relay team which is ranked in the top-20 nationally. This track meet will feature nearly 800 athletes and will provide the Firebirds, ranked No. 9 in the East Region, with some great competition to push for even better results.

Mckenzie said he and his squad are looking forward to competing against some of the best teams in the area and from out of town.

"The Patriot Games is a familiar meet for our returning athletes, and we've done pretty well at this meet in the past. With the big turnout anticipated – 800 athletes entered, we're looking forward to competing against quality teams. This meet will be a great opportunity for us to build on the good performances we've had so far…and I feel confident we're ready to do so," McKenzie said. "I'm looking for good performances in the sprint events (60m, 200m, 400M) as well as the Long and Triple Jump."
