UDC Women's Tennis Defeats West Chester University 5-2
WEST CHESTER, PA- the University of the District of Columbia's women's tennis team defeated West Chester University 5-2, on the road.
Mariona Franco and Polina Zelentsova defeated their opponents 6-2 at doubles No.3. WCU went on to win at both No.1 and 2 to clinch the doubles point, taking the 1-0 advantage into singles play.
The Golden Ram extended their lead to 2-0 after Bahamon had to retire at No.6 singles, but the Firebirds went on to win the last five matches to claim the victory. Franco and Zelentsova ended their day going 2-0, winning in straight sets at No.2 and 4. Sofia Bellucco and Célia Bastin both found themselves in three-set matches at the No.3 and 5 positions. Both defeated their opponents in their match tie-breakers.
Up next, UDC (11-6) will head to Chestnut Hill on Wednesday. The match is slated to begin at 1:00pm.
