Firebirds Down Trojans 5-2
PETERSBURG, VA- the University of the District of Columbia's women's tennis team extended their win streak to four, after defeating Virginia State University 5-2 in a road match up.
The Firebirds swept the doubles point to head into singles play with the 1-0 advantage. The Trojans evened the score at No.4 after Lina Benjelloun had to retire during the second set.
Polina Zelentsova and Claudia Bahamon didn't allow their opponents a single point winning 6-0, 6-0 at No.2 and 6. Sofia Bellucco sealed the deal with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No.3 and Celia Bastin secured UDC's final point of the day with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No.5.
Up next, UDC (10-5) will host Wilmington (Del.) in a crucial regional match up at the UDC Tennis Courts on Tuesday. The match is slated to begin at 2:00pm.
