UDC Women's Tennis Downs Goldey-Beacom 5-2

WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's women's tennis team defeated Goldey-Beacom University 5-2 in a regional match up, Wednesday afternoon at the UDC Tennis Courts. The Firebirds improved to 11-6 on the season, while the Lightning fell to 4-10.

After the Lightning took the win at No.2 doubles, the Firebirds won at No.3 leaving all eyes on court 1. UDC mangaed to pull away with the point, with the duo of Simoné Pärn and Sofia Bellucco defeating their opponents 6-4 to take the 1-0 lead into singles play.

The Firebirds extended their win 3-1, after winning at No.3 and 1 singles, and the Lightining winning at No.2. Celia Bastin clinched the winning point defeating her opponent on court 5 to the score of 6-1, 6-4. 

Up next, UDC (11-6, 4-1 ECC) will host Virginia State on Friday in their regular season finale at 2:00 pm.
