UDC Women's Tennis Fall Season Comes to a Close After Falling to Queens College in the ECC Tournament Semifinal
FLUSHING, N.Y.- The #2 seeded University of the District of Columbia' s women's tennis team saw their season come to a close after falling to #3 seeded Queens College 0-4 at the QC Tennis Bubble. The Firebirds conclude the fall season with a 6-3, overall record.
The Knights earned the doubles point after wins at No.1 and 2 positions. They exteneded their lead to 2, picking up the win at the No.5 position, where Rookie of the Year Celia Bastin took her first conference loss of the season. They then went on to win at No.6 and No.1 to claim the 4-0 victory and a spot in the Finals.
This marks the the Firebirds third ECC tornament appearance in three seasons and the first since the 2018-19 season since they haven't been the finals.
They end the Fall season with three First-Team All-Conference picks Laura Marie, Simoné Pärn and Célia Bastin. Bastin was also named the ECC Rookie of the Year, which marks the second consecutive season that the title has come from UDC.
UDC (6-3, 4-1 ECC) will be back in the Spring with hopes of getting a NCAA Tournament bid.
