Firebirds Sweep Marauders 7-0
WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's women's tennis team rolled to their second win of the season with a clean 7-0 victory over Millersville, Wednesday afternoon at the UDC Tennis Courts. The Firebirds improved to 2-0 on the season while the Marauders fell to 0-1.
UDC secured the doubles point after earning wins at No.3 and 2 to go into singles play with the 1-0 lead.
Simoné Pärn brought home the first singles point for the Firebirds with 6-1, 6-2 victory at No.1. She was followed up by teammate Laura Marie who went 6-1, 6-1, before Mariona Franco secured the victory with a two set match to the tune of 6-4, 6-4 at No.2.
UDC (2-0, 0-0 ECC) will head to N.Y. on Saturday to open up conference play at Molloy University.
