Firebirds Face Setback at Goldey-Beacom College
WILMINGTON, DE- The University of the District of Columbia's women's Tennis team picked up their second loss of the season falling to Goldey-Beacom College 4-3, Thursday afternoon at the Delcastle Tennis Center.
UDC's only win in doubles came at No.3 where Mariona Franco and Claudia Bahamon defeated their opponents 6-0.
The Firebirds went on t pick up the first two singles points of the match at No.6 and 4 before the Lightning picked up a win at No.1.
Laura Marie then snagged another victory at No.5. After a tough three-set battle at No.2, Franco eventually fell 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.
With the score tied at 3-3, the winning point came down to the No.3 position. After losing the first set 2-6, Sofia Bellucco came back to win the second set 7-5. Her opponent eventually walked away with the 6-4 victory securing the win for Goldey-Beacom.
UDC (15-2, 7-0 ECC) will wrap up the regular season with a home match against Virginia State on Saturday with a 1:00 pm slated serve time.
