Bracket Set for ECC Women's Tennis Championship

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY - It came down to the final match of the regular season, but the brackets are finally set for the 2015 ECC Women's Tennis Championship. For the third straight season, the same four schools will have the same seed as they compete for the ECC title at Queens College on October 23 and 24.

Championship action begins when ECC Regular Season Champion, NYIT, takes on No. 4 seed LIU Post at 11 a.m. on Friday morning. NYIT wrapped up their third straight ECC Regular Season title with a 6-3 victory over Queens earlier this afternoon. The Bears, who are three-time defending champions, have now won 30 straight ECC contests including championship play.

LIU Post is back in the tournament for the third straight season after finishing with a 6-4 (4-3 ECC) record to date. NYIT won the previous meeting between the two schools by a score of 8-1 on September 25.

The other semifinal matchup features host and No. 2 seed Queens College against No. 3 seed University of the District of Columbia at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The Firebirds come into the Championship with a 5-2 ECC mark and a 5-4 overall record, while Queens, ECC runner-up each of the past three seasons, finished with a 6-1 ECC record and an 8-1 overall mark.

In their previous matchup this season on September 13, Queens defeated the Firebirds by a final tally of 7-2.
