Men's and Women's Tennis Continue Work with Food & Friends

WASHINGTON, DC-- On October 2nd, the University of the District of Columbia men's and women's tennis teams contributed their time to Food & Friends for another spectacular day of service in the community.  Both teams have demonstrated exemplary dedication to assisting with Food & Friends, and will continue to build this working relationship that supports a great cause.

The mission of Food & Friends is to foster a community caring for men, women, and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses by preparing and delivering specialized meals and groceries in conjunction with nutrition counseling. The organization operates six days a week, 52 weeks a year and serves over 2,900 clients in a service area that spans 5,346 miles. Over 3,000 meals are prepared and packaged daily. The Firebirds joined Food & Friends in their kitchen in NE Washington, D.C. and had a blast working together to help get meals out the door.

"Our time with Food & Friends continues to be a great team-building exercise, and it is a rewarding experience every time we are able to help out in the community," said head coach Dickie Mahaffey.
