Zoé Mall Earns East Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – University of the District of Columbia's Zoé Mall was named East Coast Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week for her outstanding performance in the week ending September 27th.
Mall (Business Management – Eckbolsheim, France/Lycee Marcel Rudloff) earned No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles wins in back-to-back ECC victories for the Firebirds vs. Daemen and Roberts Wesleyan. At Daemen on Friday, she teamed with Peerada Looareesuwan for an 8-3 win vs. Gretchen Ringler and Jessica Robins, then defeated Robins in singles play, 6-1, 6-1. The next day, she and Looareesuwan needed four tiebreakers, but ultimately handed Marine Kennel and Camilla Linhart a 9-8 defeat in doubles play. She went on to cruise to a 6-1, 6-0 singles victory over Tiffany Hamdan.
Mall is now 4-3 at No. 4 singles overall in her rookie campaign, including a 4-2 mark vs. ECC competition. She and Looareesuwan are 2-4 overall (2-3 vs. ECC).
The Firebirds (4-3, 4-2 ECC) are in action on Sunday, October 4th vs. non-region foe Chowan at 12 p.m.
