Firebirds Sweep Daemen on the Road

AMHERST, NY - The University of the District of Columbia women's tennis team swept doubles and singles play for a resounding, 9-0 win vs. East Coast Conference foe Daemen on Saturday. 

The Firebirds improved to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in league play with the win while the Wildcats fell to an even 3-3 overall but 1-3 in the ECC. 

With doubles play to begin the match, sophomore Laura Dimante (Business Management - Riga, Latvia/Rigas Teikas) and senior Laura Rojas (Civil Engineering - Bogota, Columbia/Jackson State) University) earned a convincing, 8-1 win at No. 3 to jumpstart UDC. Senior Peerada Looareesuwan (Computer Science - Bangkok, Thailand/Valdosta State) and freshman Zoe Mall (Business Management - Eckbolsheim, France/Lycée Marcel Rudloff then teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 2, followed by an 8-5 win at No. 1 by sophomore Dominika Hadnadova (Business Management - Sala, Slovakia/Eastern Kentucky) and junior Alena Skobkina (Chemistry - Tarragona, Spain/Walsh University).

The Firebirds cruised through with six singles victories to claim the 9-0 shutout win.  

UDC will return to action tomorrow, Saturday, September 27th vs ECC foe Roberts Wesleyan.
